Remote Control

With Remote Control operation, you control your loader without having to be in the cab. Completely portable, and designed for the worst working environments*, the Radio Remote Control system is installed or removed in minutes for easy use with multiple machines. The system is available for Bobcat skid-steer and compact track loaders equipped with Selectable Joystick Controls (SJC). It’s also compatible with All-Wheel Steer (AWS) loaders.

This is a smart solution for hot, dusty environments or on jobs where you’d rather be outside of the machine. For example, two people are sometimes required for operating attachments such as planers and wheel saws. One person guides the placement of the attachment using hand signals, while the other operates the loader. With the Radio Remote Control System, this same job can be done with one person, and the operator can operate the loader from a distance, free from dust and noise.

The Radio Remote Control System is valuable in approved applications including concrete, demolition, highway and asphalt planing, fire breaks, stump removal, poultry barns, shipping yards, nuclear power plants, foundries, mining, chemical plants and municipalities.

How does it work?

Easily install the radio remote control kit to any remote control ready Bobcat loader. Simply install the receiver and the Control Mode Selector/E-Stop box to the machine using the included magnets. Then connect the harness, remove the rear window (or install the rear window external removal kit), attach the Remote Ready Identification tag and the machine is ready to be operated remotely.

The Radio Remote Control System is completely portable. If you have multiple machines in your fleet, you can remove the remote the system from one machine and attach it to another in minutes. NOTE: Older loader models may require software upgrades. See your Bobcat dealer for more information.

Start the loader engine and operate the drive, lift, tilt and auxiliary hydraulic functions of the loader using the Radio Remote Control Transmitter. The transmitter joystick controls operate similar to loader joystick controls in the ISO control pattern. Easily switch between "REMOTE" control mode and "MACHINE/DIRECT" control mode.


The system includes:

  • Transmitter: Supported with adjustable shoulder strap with guard bar and tethered manual attached
  • Receiver: Installs on top of the loader's cab and has amber/green strobe lights and horns
  • Control Mode Selector / Emergency Stop-Box: Installs on top of the tailgate
  • Also included: Battery and battery charger, remote ready identification tag to indicate that loader can be operated remotely, carrying case and Operation, Maintenance and Parts Manual tethered to the transmitter


Safety Features and Operator Training Resources

At Bobcat Company, safety is at the core of our designs. For the Radio Remote Control System, safety and training features include:

  • A Bobcat Loader Radio Remote Control Operator Training Course with video, hands-on and classroom training is available.
  • A system shutdown feature activates if the operator trips and falls down; tilt sensors are built into the transmitter.
  • Emergency Stop (E-Stop) Buttons are located on the transmitter and E-Stop box affixed to the rear of the loader.
  • A transmitter guard bar provides protection against bumping or damaging the controls. It connects to shoulder straps to help operators comfortably position the transmitter’s controls.
  • The rear window must be removed or a rear window external removal kit is necessary to access the lift arm bypass control valve if the lift arms need to be lowered without machine power.
  • A Remote Ready Identification Tag is provided in this kit. The tag is displayed on the front of the loader to indicate that it can be operated remotely.
  • Two operation, maintenance and parts manuals are included. One is cabled to the Transmitter (stored in a pouch underneath) and another is provided in the kit as a reference.
