Packaging Engineering Co-op

We are currently looking for students to participate in our Packaging Engineering co-op program. You’ve spent a great deal of time in the classroom learning about packaging, now we’re giving you a chance to put that learning into practice. With a Bobcat co-op, you’ll learn solid business practices from some of the best engineers in the industry. You’ll have a hand in planning and executing projects right alongside Bobcat’s engineers. But as much as we have to offer you, we always welcome your fresh new ideas and create an atmosphere in which you can share them.

DESCRIPTION

Your Packaging Engineering co-op may provide hands-on work in:
  • Developing packaging standards and design to reduce/eliminate damage in international shipment of raw materials.
  • Reduce packaging cost for packaging for material shipped from North American suppliers to North Dakota manufacturing facilities.
  • Packaging designs developed to reduce Total Cost, (Packaging Material, Handling Labor, and Transportation).
  • Development of Lean Manufacturing concepts in relationship to Packaging.
  • Data collection of component parts for future packaging project: Dimensions, Weight, Fragility and Critical Surfaces.

    REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be entering into junior year or above in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural, Manufacturing or other Engineering/Industrial Technologies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Candidate should have completed Basic Packaging courses including Materials, Shock and Vibration.
  • Previous co-op experience is a plus.
  • Project management skills a plus.
  • 8 month commitment (the student needs to see projects through to completion, May-Dec or Jan-Aug).
