Bobcat Company Enlarges Concrete Mixer Attachment

WEST FARGO, N.D. — January 2006

Compact loader operators can now mix, transport, and dump more concrete with the increased drum capacity of the new concrete mixer attachment from Bobcat Company, a business of Ingersoll Rand, a diversified industrial firm.

The new Bobcat® concrete mixer attachment has a drum capacity that was increased 60 percent to 9 cubic feet from 5.5 cubic feet. Bobcat representatives say the attachment is ideal for contractors completing a variety of projects in which they need to mix, transport, and dump concrete more quickly than a traditional stand-alone mixer and wheelbarrow.

?With the concrete mixer attachment, contractors have the ability to mix the concrete in the front driveway of a home and then transport it to the backyard or another location where the work is taking place,? says Greg Rostberg, Bobcat marketing manager. ?No longer do they have to carry all of the materials needed to mix concrete to the exact location where it will be placed. Not only does this save on labor, but it also helps contractors better access confined areas.?

The concrete mixer attachment?s rollback angle and enlarged drum allows for more material to be mixed and transported inside the drum. In addition, its welded drum paddles eliminate the need to tighten bolts after wear.

The drum is made of 3/16-inch steel, with mixing fins of 1/4-inch reinforced steel for long life and durability. It is recommended that the drum, which rotates in either direction for optimal mixing, turn at a speed of 20 rpm at 11 gpm hydraulic flow.

The concrete mixer attachment is approved for use on Bobcat skid-steer loaders, compact track loaders, and all-wheel steer loaders with the Bobcat Interlock Control System (BICS) and a Remote Attachment Control (RAC) kit. It is especially popular among rental stores because homeowners and contractors find that the attachment is useful and efficient for a variety of projects. And because of its compact size, the 49-inch wide attachment is ideal for performing concrete work on sidewalks, driveways, footings, and floors of small buildings.

With a RAC kit, the operator can mix concrete safely from outside the loader, thus saving time and money by eliminating the need for a second person inside the loader.
