Renters Find Many Uses for Utility Work Machine

Every time a customer rents the Toolcat™ 5600, Chuck Mantle is reminded of the versatility of this Bobcat® utility work machine.
Mantle, owner of Punta Gorda Rent-ALL & Sales Co., Inc., Punta Gorda, Fla., has rented Bobcat equipment for more than two decades. In fact, he has never owned another brand of skid-steer loader.
“Bobcat products have been good for our business,” he says. “They have been consistent revenue producers year after year. Now the 5600, because of its versatility, is doing a fine job for us.”
Mantle knew that the Bobcat utility work machine would appeal to landscapers and general contractors, but has been somewhat surprised and pleased with the wide range of customer use. Among the renters:
• The City of Punta Gorda used the Toolcat unit for six weeks to repair miles of destroyed sea walls. “It did a great job for them,” says Mantle, “because they could use both the bucket and cargo box to haul material to fill in behind houses.”
• Another customer installs playground equipment at schools. He usually has to park his truck some distance from where the installation occurs. The 5600 saved a great deal of time delivering supplies to the jobsite. It was also easy on the turf.
•A group of people rented it for a neighborhood cleanup day. In addition to picking up residential trash, the unit was used to haul away debris from some vacant lots. “Everything they got rid of—appliances, brush, furniture—was transported by the 5600,” says Mantle.
•A contractor working downtown was faced with the challenge of delivering supplies in a very congested traffic area. The fast-moving, easy-to-maneuver utility work machine proved to be the perfect carry-all unit.
Mantle’s rate for the 5600 is similar to his prices for smaller Bobcat skid-steer loaders. If all his loaders are out, the Toolcat machine, in many cases, is an adequate replacement.
The 5600 uses many of the same attachments as Bobcat skid-steer loaders. That means a customer who wants an auger can use the same one that fits the skid-steer loader in the fleet.
