New Bobcat M-Series E80 high in productivity
The new Bobcat E80 excavators have many features that increase productivity and keep operators comfortable.
Whether you’re a road- or bridge-building contractor or a municipality responsible for maintaining infrastructure, you have high standards for the equipment you use. The new line of M-Series excavators is one of the reasons Bobcat Company is the leading manufacturer of compact equipment. The excavators in this line, including the E80, raise the standard you’ve come to expect, with new features that include longer service intervals; a spacious cab with a top-of-the-line seat to keep operators working comfortably; and polymer shims to decrease wear on the lateral pins.
“Operators spend the first 30 minutes of their day greasing the bushings at the boom, arm and bucket pivot,” says Tom Connor, Bobcat excavator product specialist. “The E80 has extended the service interval of greasing the bushings to 250 hours, which means you’ll be able to get to work right away instead of having to service your machine.”
While this increased service interval will get you working more quickly, the increased comfort built into the E80 cab will keep you productive for many hours. That’s why the E80 has a spacious cab with a top-of-the-line operator seat that adjusts nine ways and allows the operator to create an individually designed ergonomic work environment by placing the armrests, joysticks, seat bottom and back in positions where they provide the most comfort.
The high-capacity climate-control system has true automotive-style controls and vents in front of and to the rear of the seat. Five modes of air movement place the air exactly where needed.
Other contributors to excavator productivity are a durable workgroup and ease of changing attachments, and the E80 is built with both in mind. Attachment slop is created by wear on the pins, which is why polymer shims are used in the lateral joints — to decrease pin wear and increase tightness in the workgroup.
Each E80 is clamp-ready for operators who want to quickly and easily add and use a hydraulic clamp. In addition to clamps, Bobcat provides a number of attachments available for the E80, and the optional pin coupler system quickly changes between attachments to keep your work moving along.
The E80 has a 57-horsepower interim Tier IV engine that provides substantial power to complete work without wasting a lot of extra fuel. The engine control system has an auto-idle feature, reducing fuel consumption when the excavator is not working and making it easier for you to have conversations with co-workers.
With minimal tail swing, the E80 can work in compact work environments and next to walls or other obstructions. The E80 features the Bobcat® in-track swing frame. The swing frame for the boom stays within the width of the tracks, making it even easier for the E80 to work in constricted job conditions.
