Bobcat Excavator Gets a Performance Boost

New 324 boasts more dig depth, more reach and more dump height in the same frame size

A new Bobcat� 324 compact excavator replaces the 323 model with a new work group that offers more dig depth, more reach, and more dump height. Known for working in the tightest areas where larger excavating and grading equipment can't, the new 324 provides operators with more performance in the same machine size.

Improved production

The 324 has a new work group that significantly increases the excavator's productivity. Dig depth has been increased by a foot to 8 feet 6 inches, the maximum reach is 14 inches longer at 14 feet, and the maximum dump height is 5 inches more than the 323. Rated lift capacity over the blade improved by nearly 38 percent to 1,031 pounds (10-foot radius, ground level, over blade).

Additional work group changes include a left-mounted boom cylinder for flush digging on the right side, a preferred operating mode for most operators. A new cylinder-over-boom design provides better cylinder protection and minimizes downtime.

New canopy

Additional improvements include a new, lighter-weight canopy that provides better visibility to the work area, and it lowers the machine's overall weight, which can be helpful when traveling across established surfaces or towing it to a jobsite.

Restyled controls

Inside the operating station are restyled controls that look remarkably similar to larger Bobcat excavators. The ISO/Standard control pattern selector valve is easily accessible, while a new storage tray is located below the seat to store paperwork or small tools.

Grading blade enhancements

A redesigned grading blade sits further out from the 324 for improved grading, increased digging performance and lift capacity over the blade. Telescopic, self-storing blade extensions widen the blade to 54 inches.
