M-Series Loader Cab Rates High
After 60 years in business, nursery owner finds most comfortable machine
The new M-Series loader cab is like nothing else for Charles Strausburg, a longtime Bobcat owner and operator at Strausburg nursery.
Charlie Strausburg is working in unparalleled comfort these days, which is good considering the 72-year-old nursery owner sometimes spends eight to 10 hours a day operating a skid-steer loader.
"I want a comfortable machine," he says, "and this one is by far the best. I like everything about the cab, and to make it even better, I ordered all available options."
His newest Bobcat® compact track loader is a T650 — a high performance machine that has all the M-Series features that define the next generation of compact loaders. Enhancements include 18 percent stronger hydraulics for better attachment performance; 15 to 20 percent more tractive effort; protected tailgate and quick couplers; a higher-capacity cooling system; increased fuel capacity and more powerful lighting.
Cab-forward design
But for Strausburg it's the cab. Start with the location — it's been moved forward so the operator has a better view of the work area. Larger windows significantly improve visibility in all directions.
"That's very important to me," he says. "When I mow between rows of trees I need to be watchful because the lanes are 8 to 10 feet wide. The visibility is excellent."
So, too, is the sound level, which is reduced by more than 60 percent to the operator, 50 percent to the bystander. "For the first time I have a cab radio, and in this quieter cab it's very pleasant listening," Strausburg says.
The new M-Series loader cab is remarkably quieter with more space than previous models.
In addition, the cab front opening is bigger for easier entry and exit; the suspension seat is more comfortable; there's 10 percent more space and a pressurized interior that is best in the industry.
"If you try this cab once, you'll be sold, just like I was," he says.
The T650, purchased from Bobcat of Dayton, is the fourth Bobcat loader owned by Strausburg Nursery, Xenia, Ohio. The company also has a T300, which has saved considerable time and money by not damaging lawns. "Most of the trees we sell weigh 300 to 2,000 pounds," Strausburg says. "Other equipment we previously used could impact the turf and we were unable to work in adverse weather. The track loaders solved those problems."
Bobcat attachments have also paid off for Strausburg. He owns a mower, hydraulic positioning pallet forks, dozer blade, grader, landscape rake, two augers and several buckets.
"We are not in the landscaping business, but we are a delivery and planting service," he says. "With this attachment lineup we can do our jobs correctly and easily and make sure the customer is totally satisfied."
Strausburg, who has worked in the nursery business for 60 years (46 as the owner of his company), says: "All the Bobcat equipment I've purchased — and my dealer — have helped me quite a bit to become successful. Now with the new T650 cab I can be very comfortable as well."
