Exceptional loader, exceptional dealer
Impressive cab is highlight of new S590 skid-steer loader for Omaha owner
Steve Lupardus’ company is a fixture at many construction sites and major events around the Omaha, Neb., and Council Bluffs, Iowa, area. However, what you won’t see at any of these locations is his new S590 skid-steer loader. It stays at his Bennington, Neb., headquarters where the valuable machine is kept busy every day loading and unloading.
The assignment for the M-Series loader: handling the 600 portable restrooms Lupardus owns. His firm, Port-A-Johns Inc., is a leading provider of portable sanitation needs in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. The company’s five trucks and trailers are regularly seen delivering units to construction projects, both large and small, and events such as the NCAA Division 1 Baseball Championship (College World Series).
“As you can imagine, moving that many units around is quite a chore,” Lupardus says. “They are stored outside at our 10-acre site and are constantly being moved from the yard to the shop for cleaning and then loaded on trailers. At the conclusion of the rental, they are brought back, unloaded and put away.
“Since we have been in business (2004), all that work has been handled by our Bobcat® loaders and the pallet fork attachment. Some people in this business use forklifts, but we have found that a skid-steer loader works best, especially when driving over uneven surfaces and working in tight quarters. For example, when we had our biggest order ever, we needed a machine that could maneuver around 80 units. The loader did an excellent job.”
The S590 is the fourth Bobcat machine Lupardus has owned and ranks as the best.
“Several of my friends have larger M-Series loaders, and once I looked at their machines, I was anxious to get one of the new models in the 500 frame size,” he says. “I was so intrigued by the new series that a couple of times I thought about going to a larger machine so I could get an M-Series unit. It was tough to wait.”
Once the S590 arrived at Bobcat of Omaha, Lupardus eagerly purchased one.
“I have always liked Bobcat products and the dealer has treated me very well, so why change?” he says. “And, of course, the M-Series is something special.”
M-Series cab is No. 1What does he like most? Like a lot of other M-Series owners, it’s the cab.
“The design, which puts the cab farther to the front, and all the extra glass is a real boost to operator visibility,” Lupardus says. “With more of the controls moved to the front, I don’t have to be looking around and reaching for them as much. The new cab is much quieter, as well. The cab is exceptional.”
He rates the service from Bobcat of Omaha exceptional, too.
“I have been bringing my Bobcat loaders in for regular service for 15 years (he owned a loader before starting his business) and they have always promptly taken care of me. The dealership has an impressive inventory of attachments for rent. When I need to rent an item, such as a hydraulic breaker, that’s where I go.”
