Adding Bobcat Equipment Helps Attract More Rental Business
In the rental business, as in any other commercial enterprise, it pays to pay attention to customer demand. That’s why, when customers want easy-to-operate compact equipment that they can count on to deliver top-notch performance when they need it, profit-minded rental center owners offer them Bobcat® equipment.Left to right: Andy Munley, rental manager, Jamey Johnston, sales manager, and J.D. The same Bobcat productivity and reliability that allows customers to save time and labor can also help bolster the return on investment that rental centers earn from their Bobcat machines and attachments.
Sharpening a competitive edge
The locals know it as "Tractor Row." On the map, it's south West Street in Wichita, Kans. The road is lined with numerous equipment dealers and rental centers. The competition is fierce.
M6 Concrete Accessories is located right in the middle of the battle. They focus on serving concrete contractors by selling tools and materials, fabricating rebar and renting equipment. The company is known for being a one-stop shop for concrete contractors, featuring an experienced staff that provides expert advice along with the best products.
J.D. Munley, owner of the company, explains, "In researching avenues to increase our competitiveness, we surveyed many equipment owners. The Bobcat brand stood out due to its high level of customer satisfaction, especially after several years of use and a high number of hours on the equipment."
Jamey Johnston, sales manager, adds, "Our service department conducted a thorough comparison of Bobcat machines to other brands. They determined Bobcat loaders and excavators would be the easiest to service and provide the fastest turnaround between customers. This is a key aspect in the rental business and it establishes Bobcat equipment as the leader in the industry."
Instead of following the common rental center practice of rotating in new equipment as older equipment is retired, Concrete Accessories decided to make a total switch to Bobcat last fall. Today, four Bobcat skid-steer loaders (three S205 models and an S250), a Bobcat T190 compact track loader and four Bobcat 430 Zero House Swing compact excavators are available for rent. "We hoped changing over to Bobcat machines all at once would make a big splash and attract attention," Munley says.
The business decision proved to be successful, as their dealer, White Star Machinery, provided strong support, and rental revenues began climbing.
"In terms of rental activity, this equipment has exceeded our expectations," says Munley. "Bobcat equipment has enabled us to provide our customers a high quality product that has a reputation they've come to expect. We're proud to be able to have our customers using Bobcat equipment."
