Efficient Bobcat Equipment Boosts Profit
A Bobcat System helped Eugene Davis dramatically improve his production.
An extra day of work every week — and the income that it generates — has made the Bobcat System the equipment choice of Eugene Davis.
For more than 25 years, Davis has installed and repaired septic systems around Birmingham, Ala., first using a 14-foot backhoe loader and then switching to a Bobcat® loader and excavator.
“I used a backhoe loader up until about eight years ago,” Davis says. “It was just fine, but I noticed others in my line of work were using Bobcat equipment and they were completing jobs more efficiently than I was. I was falling behind the competition.”
Davis contacted his local dealer, Loader Services, and after evaluating the Bobcat product lineup, purchased a 751 skid-steer loader. “Right away I began to notice how my efficiency improved.”
Production got even better when Davis added a 341 compact excavator, which he presently operates with a larger S300 skid-steer loader.
The 341 is a long-arm version of the Bobcat 337 excavator. Today the long-arm option is available on the 425, 325, 331, 430, 435 and 337 excavators. In addition, the 331 and 430 excavators can be configured with an extendable arm option.
The S300 skid-steer loader is an 81-hp machine with a rated operating capacity of 3,000 pounds. “I use both every day,” Davis says. “The excavator digs holes and trenches and the loader brings in gravel and covers the septic system. These two machines allow me to complete an install in one day; with the backhoe loader it usually took two days. Overall, I would say my efficiency increased 25 percent. As a result, I pick up at least one additional day of work each week.”
Compared to the backhoe loader Davis previously used, several factors make the loader-excavator combination a better choice. “The loader and excavator have really delivered for me,” Davis says. “I wish I would have purchased the Bobcat equipment combination sooner.”
Bobcat excavators complete construction projects faster for Eugene Davis.
