GlobalTRACS system

GlobalTRACS system

Bobcat® equipment owners can now combine the eye-in-the-sky capabilities of high-flying satellites and the versatility of wireless communications with a computer to track the location of their machines and monitor equipment operating status and engine hours.

Called the GlobalTRACS system, this new dealer-installed option provides information you can use to improve machine security and better manage your equipment. It will work with the entire Bobcat lineup, including all skid-steer, all-wheel steer and compact track loaders, loader backhoes, compact excavators, the Toolcat™ utility work machine, utility vehicles and more.

It’s ideal for contractors, rental stores and others who want an easy, convenient way to keep a close eye on their equipment when its away from home and out of sight.

You can use the GlobalTRACS system with a computer and Internet connection or integrate it into existing office operations, billing and maintenance software. The rugged hardware, which mounts directly on the Bobcat machine, is built for reliable operation in harsh working conditions. The system is backed by Qualcomm, Inc., a worldwide leader in wireless communications, which monitors the data network around the clock

As a simple, effective method of monitoring equipment, GlobalTRACS offers the benefit of:

Reduced theft costs

This system uses global positioning satellites to spot unauthorized movement of a machine and aid in recovering stolen equipment. It establishes an electronic boundary or “geo-fence” around the pre-defined operating area of an individual machine or an entire group of equipment. Should a machine leave this area, the system automatically triggers an alert.

By speeding recovery of a stolen machine, this system can minimize jobsite delays caused by loss of the equipment and eliminate the need to file an insurance claim. Locating the unit quickly can also eliminate the time and expense of finding and buying a replacement machine and equipment rental costs while waiting for delivery of the new machine.

Better equipment management

GlobalTRACS provides up-to-the-minute information about the machine’s operating status ondemand or at automated intervals.

You can use engine hour data, for example, to schedule preventive maintenance, reducing downtime and extending useful life. If you’re a contractor, you can schedule the work to prevent disruption of your project or, if you’re a rental store owner, to avoid any inconvenience for your customers renting the machine on a long-term basis.

The system also indicates when the equipment is running and when it’s shut down. You can use this information to help spot idle or under-used machines, which can be moved to more productive jobsites.

More efficient service calls

The ability to quickly pinpoint the location of Bobcat equipment also means service personnel spend less time trying to find the machines for pickup, service or repair.

Future Data Possibilities

The ability of the new GlobalTRACS package to report the location, engine hours and operating status of your Bobcat® equipment is just the start. This system offers the flexibility of over-the-air upgrades to add other features in the future. This could include providing instant information to monitor the operation of engines, transmission and hydraulics and alerting you to the possibility of any damage and resulting downtime. It could also provide other data to help diagnose and repair malfunctions.
