(WEST FARGO, N.D. – November 2019) Doosan Bobcat North America recognized National Manufacturing Day by holding science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities and facility tours for approximately 500 middle and high school students.
National Manufacturing Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in October. It is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of inventors, builders, engineers and forward thinkers. Doosan Bobcat celebrated the event during October and into November to highlight its continued ongoing commitment to U.S. manufacturing and to energize a future pipeline of skilled professionals.
STEM activities were organized at Doosan Bobcat facility locations in and around Bismarck, Gwinner, Fargo and Wahpeton, North Dakota; Litchfield, Minnesota; and Statesville, North Carolina. Each location offered students hands-on manufacturing and engineering activities, including assembling skateboards, to showcase how an assembly line works and building a structure to simulate a Falling Object Protective Structure (FOPS) test. Students also received facility tours which included an overview of the business and products.
“Today’s students are our next generation of manufacturers,” said Stacey Breuer, director of corporate communication and public affairs. “By offering events like National Manufacturing Day, we help bring engineering to life for students through hands-on activities while expanding their knowledge about manufacturing as a career choice. It’s essential that we promote STEM-related professions to harness and retain talent, especially in the communities where we do business.”
