(WEST FARGO, N.D. — November 2016) Doosan Bobcat North America, through its Bobcat® compact equipment and Doosan® heavy and portable power equipment brands, has continued its ongoing commitment to U.S. manufacturing by hosting student factory tours and offering science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities as part of National Manufacturing Day.
Although Manufacturing Day occurs the first Friday in October, Doosan Bobcat North America celebrated the event throughout the month of October and the beginning of November to highlight its work and employees, and to energize a future pipeline of skilled professionals.
Local tours were organized by Doosan and Bobcat facility locations in and around Bismarck, Gwinner, Fargo and Wahpeton, North Dakota; Statesville, North Carolina; and Litchfield, Minnesota. Each location offered students facility tours, hands-on manufacturing and engineering activities, and an overview of the business and products. In Bismarck, students were also able to tour the Acceleration Center — a key engineering facility for all Bobcat compact equipment distributed globally. The facility also serves some of Doosan heavy equipment’s research and development needs for the North American market.
“At Doosan Bobcat North America, we want students in our communities to have a better understanding about what takes place in modern-day manufacturing facilities. Our goal is to expand students’ knowledge about manufacturing as a career choice,” said Rich Goldsbury, president of Doosan Bobcat North America. “Today’s STEM graduates will power the next chapter of production and innovation, and harnessing their potential is imperative in the communities where we do business.”
Approximately 600 students participated in factory tours and STEM activities at Doosan and Bobcat facility locations as part of National Manufacturing Day.
