Doosan Bobcat North America awards $8,000 to regional schools for STEM projects

(WEST FARGO, N.D. – December 2018) Doosan Bobcat North America has awarded 14 grants totaling $8,000 to North Dakota and South Dakota elementary, middle and high school classrooms for projects focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

This is the fifth year Doosan Bobcat has awarded “Doosan Discovery Grants” to accredited schools in communities where the company has offices or production facilities.

Schools awarded 2018 grants are:

  • Britton-Hecla Middle School, Britton, South Dakota
  • Cheney Middle School, West Fargo, North Dakota
  • Circle of Nations School, Wahpeton, North Dakota
  • Glen Ullin Public School, Glen Ullin, North Dakota
  • Liberty Middle School, West Fargo, North Dakota
  • Light of Christ Catholic Schools, Bismarck, North Dakota
  • North Sargent School, Gwinner, North Dakota
  • Sargent Central School, Gwinner, North Dakota
  • St. Mary’s Academy, Bismarck, North Dakota
  • St. Mary’s Central High School, Bismarck, North Dakota
  • Sunrise Elementary, Bismarck, North Dakota
  • Wahpeton Middle School, Wahpeton, North Dakota

These selected schools and classrooms can use the grants to help with a variety of projects supporting STEM initiatives. Designing robots, coding and using drones are just a few of the hands-on projects planned by grant recipients.

Projects will be completed during the 2018-19 academic school year and will be designed to improve, advance and enrich student learning. This one-time grant will help students apply STEM concepts they are learning in school to solve problems, using some of the same technologies and tools utilized in the workplace.
