Compact Efficiency on Site: Alicante Developer Upgrades Fleet with Bobcat E17z
Posted: 4 June 2026
Based in Elche, Spanish developer and builder Centro de Gestión y Desarrollo Inmobiliario del Mediterráneo specialises in residential housing projects across the Alicante province. To boost jobsite efficiency and operational flexibility, the company added a new Bobcat E17z mini excavator to its equipment fleet in March 2026.
The firm has long relied on Bobcat machinery. Its working fleet includes a Bobcat 553F loader purchased in 2006—still operating at full capacity after two decades—and a recently acquired Bobcat S530EV compact loader equipped with a Bobcat Dumper 25 attachment.
Having previously rented mini excavators for specific tasks, manager Manuel Esclápez Román decided the time was right to purchase.
We decided to buy the E17z because of its compact size, versatility in tight spaces, low fuel consumption, and straightforward maintenance. The attractive 0% financing campaign over 36 months from Bobcat was also a decisive factor.

Delivered with a dedicated bucket set for excavation and ground levelling, the E17z went straight to work on a residential housing development in Finestrat, Alicante. Working alongside the company’s Bobcat compact loaders and dumper attachment, it performs continuous digging, levelling, and earthmoving duties.
Designed for Restricted Urban Spaces

A standout feature of the Bobcat E17z R2-Series is its Zero House Swing (ZHS) technology. ZHS expands on standard zero tail swing functionality by ensuring both the rear corners and the front upperstructure corners stay within the track width turning radius when the tracks are fully extended. This provides full 360-degree rotation in tight urban spaces, eliminating collision risks with nearby obstacles and protecting key components during parallel excavation.
The machine also features a retractable undercarriage. It retracts to pass through narrow gates or doorways and extends up to 136 cm to provide maximum stability during demanding digging work.
Smooth Performance and Operator Comfort
Smooth Performance and Operator Comfort
The E17z combines fast cycle times with smooth, load-sensing hydraulics (SmartFlow). Boom and arm cylinder cushioning enables smooth operation, while high breakout forces and exceptional dump heights reduce the need for constant repositioning when loading trucks.
Inside the cab, low-effort controls, ergonomic joysticks, and smooth foot pedals support operator comfort throughout long shifts. An auto-idle system automatically reduces engine speed when controls are disengaged, helping optimise fuel consumption, cut jobsite noise, and lower emissions. Integrated Bluetooth DAB radio adds extra cabin comfort. For rapid transport between sites, the E17z includes optimized tie-down and lift points alongside an automatic swing brake.
Supported by Long-Term Dealer Expertise
A central part of the investment decision was the long-standing relationship with official Bobcat dealer Maquinaria Marcos Marín, S.A., who has supported the builder for over two decades. "Receiving excellent service and technical support from our dealer is essential for us," emphasizes Esclápez.
Carlos Campos, Compact Equipment District Manager Iberia at Bobcat, notes: "The E17z is one of our most popular 1.7-tonne excavators in Spain, especially for urban jobs and interior renovation projects. Its ZHS design gives operators complete freedom of movement in confined spaces. With the R2-Series updates, including load-sensing hydraulics, operators enjoy smooth control, high precision, and excellent fuel efficiency."
By adding the Bobcat E17z to its fleet, Centro de Gestión y Desarrollo Inmobiliario del Mediterráneo strengthens its operational capacity with reliable, versatile equipment built for demanding urban construction.
