Selecting the Right Warranty

Posted on May 17, 2019

At Bobcat Company, we believe peace of mind goes a long way. That’s why we’ve built our compact equipment to meet the highest standards of quality and durability. However, if repairs are required, we have a variety of standard and extended warranty options to help you avoid unplanned expenses and downtime so you can get back to work quickly. Before adding to your fleet, understand the basic warranty options and general benefits of a compact equipment warranty.

Compact Equipment Warranty Options

Standard Warranty

Purchasing new compact equipment has its advantages, including a full standard factory warranty at no extra cost. We offer a two-year standard warranty or a total of 2,000 hours of use (whichever comes first) on our skid-steer loaders, compact track loaders, all-wheel steer loaders and compact excavators.
Standard warranty coverage also includes:

  • 12 months of coverage with unlimited hours of use for Bobcat® mini track loadersToolcat™ utility work machines and VersaHANDLER® telescopic tool carriers.
  • 12 months, or a total of 1,000 hours of use, for Bobcat utility vehicles.
  • Six-month replacement parts warranty for all parts purchased from an authorized Bobcat dealership. Some major parts come with a 12-month standard warranty, or a total of 1,000 hours of use. Contact your dealer for more information on parts warranty coverage.
  • Three to five years of engine emissions components protection – based on your engine’s horsepower.

Extended Warranty

If you’re looking for an expanded sense of security and want to get the best value from your machine, our extended warranty plans offer an economical and efficient solution.

The Protection Plus®️ extended warranty provides an easy way to protect cash flow from unplanned expenses, and you can customize coverage to fit your needs. In addition to the great protection offered with the standard warranty, you can also choose additional levels of protection, including:

  • Powertrain
  • Powertrain plus hydraulics
  • Full coverage

Your extended warranty can be bundled with the Protection Plus planned maintenance program to provide even greater peace of mind. This helps you focus on running your business while your dealer handles machine maintenance and equipment repair. And if you ever decide to sell your machine, any remaining Protection Plus coverage can be transferred to the new owner. This enhances both the value of the machine and its sales appeal.

In addition to our other extended warranty options, U.S. customers may qualify for the Used Equipment Extended Service Protection Plan for additional coverage on used equipment purchases. This plan is available for equipment outside the base warranty period and can only be purchased at the time of sale.

Benefits of a Compact Equipment Warranty

Your equipment is more than just a machine – it’s an investment. And when you’re covered by a warranty, you protect that investment in the event of untimely repairs.

Lower Repair Costs

Without a protection plan, equipment repairs could be costly and have a negative impact on your bottom line. That’s why finding the best protection plan for your situation is essential to keeping your equipment – and your wallet – in the best shape possible.

Reduced Downtime

When you’re working, your equipment needs to be working too. Having a warranty helps you get back on the job faster in the event of unexpected downtime. You don’t have to worry about the funds necessary to cover repair costs. Simply visit your local dealer for timely service that won’t compromise your budget.

Quality Parts and Service

After selecting an extended warranty option, you can expect coverage on any part or component that fails due to defects in materials or workmanship. All repairs are made by experienced Bobcat service technicians who are dedicated to providing the highest-quality maintenance and repairs in the industry. So you know you can leave the dealership feeling confident in your equipment.

Higher Resale Value

Did you know that regularly maintained equipment kept under warranty has higher resale value potential? It indicates to buyers that the machine has been well-maintained and that if any issues occurred, they were promptly addressed by qualified service technicians. Some Bobcat warranty options are also transferable. This is attractive to new buyers because they can now enjoy similar warranty benefits as the previous owners did.

Don’t Forget About Regular Maintenance

While there are a number of warranty offerings available with valuable benefits, you are still responsible for staying up to date on regular machine maintenance. Regular maintenance is designed to extend the life of your compact equipment and help you remain eligible for warranty coverage.

Before adding new equipment to your fleet, contact your local dealer for more information on all Bobcat warranty options. Interested in purchasing Protection Plus extended warranty coverage for your Bobcat equipment? Your dealer can help you make it part of your purchase of a new, never-before-sold machine. Or if you own a new, never-before-sold machine that is still under the full standard warranty period, talk to your dealer about adding extended warranty coverage.
