Bobcat Stand-On vs. Sit-Down Zero-Turn Mowers

Published on April 10, 2023

In this episode of Turf Talks, Bobcat product expert Ron Scheffler talks about the advantages of stand-on versus sit-down Bobcat® zero-turn mowers.

Key Questions & Considerations

First you need to ask some key questions to consider for your most common mowing practices:

(1) How often are you or your crew on and off the mower?

(2) What are the different size of lots with turf and landscaping you typically mow? (e.g. urban areas, cemeteries, fenced communities with gates, highly landscaped areas, etc.)

(3) Mowing large wide-open areas?

Ron explains how the answers to those questions impact whether a stand-on or zero-tun mower is the best fit for you. Bobcat stand-on mowers are great for smaller properties, urban areas, highly landscaped areas, especially since the stand-on mower is lighter depending upon turf and certain soil conditions, and allows easier access to locations that a larger zero-turn mower may not.

Bobcat sit-down zero-turn mowers are great for larger, more wide-open areas and properties, like municipalities, hospitals, schools with acreages and more. Where a sit-down zero-turn mower provides efficiency for the jobsite.

Stand-on Mowers Productivity

Stand-on mower advantages include being more compact to allow you into tighter spaces, enhancing maneuverability around complex landscaping and for you to easily duck under trees or low-lying landscape. The compact size enables you to fit more stand-on mowers on a trailer for a larger crew to complete jobs more efficiently.

Stand-on Mowers Benefits

The stand-on zero-turn mower platform puts less stress on your legs instead of your lower back to give you more energy at the end of the day.
