Four selectable power modes give you adaptable performance to tackle the job as you see fit: 

• Power+ mode: Get top work group speed to load trucks in less time or sustain peak digging performance when opening up hard ground.  
• Power mode: Command impressive power and performance for tough digging, quick loading and heavy lifting, and save even more time with fast travel.  
• Standard mode: Get balanced performance and reduced fuel usage for routine digging, lifting and grading.  
• Economy mode: Optimize fuel economy when power demands are lower or when doing precise digging and fine grading. 

While in digging work mode, SPC matches load to engine rpm, hydraulic pump torque and engine response, improving efficiency in any of the four power modes. Operators can activate it in digging work mode, and they can turn it off whenever necessary.  

Designed with two variable displacement pumps, Bobcat large excavators deliver maximum hydraulic power for superior cycle times. This feature also enhances multifunctioning performance when operating attachments and the work group functions at the same time. 

A standard lift arm configuration of nearly 3 meters maximizes breakout forces and provides plenty of reach for all types of  digging and lifting tasks.

Designed for high torque at low rpm, the turbo-charged Tier 4 compliant Bobcat engine is made for reliable, efficient performance on your most challenging jobs. Turbo-charged performance ensures consistent torque levels, regardless of the elevation where you work. 
 
With no diesel particulate filter (DPF) on the E145, E220 and E245, there’s no work stoppage due to DPF regeneration. Plus, there’s one less component for easier maintenance.

Variable speed control improves fuel efficiency by automatically reducing engine rpm during low workload requirements, such as the slew portion of a dig cycle. 

Save fuel and lower noise to improve operator comfort and jobsite communications. Standard auto idle reduces the engine idle speed automatically when machine movement stops for several seconds. When you move the joystick controls or initiate travel, the engine automatically returns to the previously set throttle position. 

When turning, pushing and maneuvering, auto shift improves machine responsiveness and controllability by shifting to low range automatically when the load is high. When the load diminishes, auto shift goes back to high range. All you need to do is control speed and direction.

Reduced tail swing, available on the E145 and E245, allows for greater maneuverability in tight jobsites, enabling operators to confidently use the machine around obstacles or against walls. 

Lift heavier loads and tackle tough digging faster. Or get through heavy attachment work with greater ease. The standard counterweight optimizes your lift capacity and heightens your productivity.

When enabled, auto shutdown saves fuel and machine wear by automatically shutting the machine off after idling for a set amount of time. The default shutdown interval is five minutes, and it can be extended with the touch display settings. 

Get increased ground clearance and maneuverability in softer ground with the X-frame undercarriage. It has sloped surfaces that shed debris to prevent material buildup and reduce the time you spend cleaning the undercarriage. 

The reinforced D-channel design of the upper structure frame adds strength to better withstand side impacts and protect machine components. 

The cooling system design features an oil cooler and radiator that independently control the hydraulic system and engine temperatures for maximum cooling capacity. You’ll get better cooling in severe conditions and improved protection of critical components. 

The hydraulic oil cooler’s variable speed cooling fan adjusts its speed as required by the demands on your excavator. This maintains optimal temperature in severe working conditions while reducing noise and increasing efficiency in lighter-duty situations. 

An air-to-air fuel cooler reduces fuel temperature to optimize fuel efficiency while improving engine component life. 

The automatic belt tensioner maintains constant tension on the engine accessory belt, compensating for regular wear and maintaining the performance you demand. 

Hard-wearing castings on the arm and boom along with pivot points constructed of forged steel ensure you can handle the toughest digging and harshest materials. Smart routing of hydraulic lines minimizes the points of potential impact to further enhance durability. 

To protect cooling performance and ensure long engine life, a honeycomb-style mesh protects the engine air intake and minimizes dirt accumulation in the engine area.  

Heavy-duty, wear-resistant plates at the end of the machine arm increase durability at the bucket pin-up point. 

To reduce operating costs and eliminate downtime, pin links are permanently sealed and never need additional lubrication.

Drive motors are recessed within the track width, keeping them protected from jobsite hazards. 

Every major pin point on the boom and arm is cast. Reinforced cast steel pin bosses provide extra strength for the tough working conditions you encounter on your job. Internal work group gussets enhance the integrity of the boom and arm structures to maximize their service life. 

Your productivity depends on your excavator, and equipment is a common target for vandalism, misuse and even theft. Bobcat large excavators include a variety of features that protect your investment.  

• Anti-theft protection password reduces the chance of burglary or unauthorized use.

The control pattern selector valve is fitted with a handle to make quick and easy changes between ISO and standard operation patterns.

The new pantograph wiper design – available on the E145, E220 and E245 – keeps the front window clear in wet or damp weather. It’s mounted on the pillar instead of the glass surface to maximize wiper coverage.

Efficient and reliable LED work lights brightly illuminate your work area while operating at night or in low light levels. The standard cabin lamp gives operators an even brighter view (not available on the E165).

The premium heat and air-conditioning system enables impressive control over the cabin temperature. It functions similarly to many automotive systems. High-capacity heating and cooling vents enable fast, easy temperature adjustments for maximum comfort in extreme temperatures.  

Once you reach the desired temperature, the system senses and adjusts to maintain a constant temperature setting automatically. If you shut down the machine, it returns it to the previously set temperature when you restart.

An 8-inch touch display provides the information you need to operate and troubleshoot effectively. It displays critical machine data, errors and warnings, the rear view camera feed and overhead view displays.  

• Automatic night view provides visibility in low light conditions.  
• Jog shuttle offers another navigation option for convenient display panel functionality. 

From inside the cab, operators can use this speaker system to communicate with others on the jobsite, reducing operators' cab exits and increasing their productivity.  

With the convenient key fob, you can lock or unlock the cab door remotely and activate push-button start. 

Large openings greatly enhance component access and ease of maintenance.  

• Wide-open access covers provide plenty of room to reach the top side of the engine.

The water separator includes a fuel heater that reduces gelling and makes cold-weather startups easier (not included on the E165). 

Before service is due (10 working hours), Bobcat large excavators remind you that oil and filters need replacing, making it easy to stay on top of maintenance needs. You can also review the hours you’ve worked since last servicing the machine. 

Centralized grease banks are located on the base of the boom to make essential daily maintenance quick and easy.

When the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank reaches a low level or any other aftertreatment system malfunctions, you’ll know. An LED light indicator assists filling, and a breather filter prevents clogging in the DEF tank’s breather line (not included on the E165).

Track machine performance in real time and access historical machine alerts via the bright, easy-to-read LCD monitor. 

A centralized filter location improves the ease of filter checks and changes.

New Y-type seals are utilized on the arm end of the bucket pins, where contact with dirt and materials is most frequent. The new seals perform better and last longer. 

You can do more than dig with a variety of approved Bobcat large excavator attachments. From job-specific buckets to the thumb accessory and beyond, you’ll get leading jobsite versatility and performance.  

Advanced controls and a range of features help you efficiently use attachments. A standard pin-on coupler enables fast and simple attachment hookup. An optional hydraulic pin grabber quick coupler makes hookup even easier.  

Joystick controls have easy-to-use roller switches that change the speed and optimize performance of your hydraulic attachments. 

Change attachments fast and complete more tasks with one machine. The easy-to-add hydraulic pin-grabber quick-coupler option enables you to swap non-hydraulic attachments without leaving your seat. 

Four work modes tailor the excavator’s power for digging or lifting. Two modes will change the auxiliary hydraulic flow to use different types of attachments or protect hydraulic system components.  

• Digging: This default setting delivers the power and response needed for general operation. Four power modes further enhance performance. 
• Lifting: Lifting increases pump torque, lowers engine rpm and provides an automatic power boost for heavy lifting. 
• One-Way: One-way auxiliary hydraulic flow works great for attachments requiring hydraulic power from one direction. 
• Two-Way: Two-way auxiliary hydraulic flow is best for attachments that need bi-directional hydraulic flow. 

The LCD display allows operators to configure 10 different attachment presets: five for one-way hydraulic flow and five more for two-way flow.  

Each preset can be used to optimize performance or match specific operational requirements of the current attachment by limiting maximum pressure and setting flow rate limits.  
 
Password protection functionality can protect against the possibility of using the wrong preset or help novice operators and rental users with limited hydraulic system knowledge. 

The roller switch on the right joystick or the foot pedal attachment control allow operators to control and vary the speed at which a two-way hydraulic attachment functions, making it easy to open or close a hydraulic clamp.
